What's up guys, welcome back to Views. This is the Thursday episode. Sorry guys, that was my phone playing. I'm also watching TikToks while recording this episode. I am a multitasking legend. Um, I have Natalie here. Actually, we have a special guest, Ferris. No, Ferris doesn't want to join.
Ferris is so weird about joining.
I don't know why he's so weird about it. First Just— can you grab it just for a little? Okay, just grab it. Just grab— just grab it. Just grab it and say that. Say that. Okay.
What?
I actually listen to you and I don't want to ruin the episode. I'm going to listen back to him like, why the fuck did that happen?
No, no, no.
This is important.
You're like the most behind the scenes guy ever.
I'm really behind the scenes. Yeah.
So like, we need to bring you forward to the light. You need to explain what it's like working behind the scenes.
David loves bringing everyone to the light.
What do you mean?
Is everybody that was behind the scenes at one point always ends up getting in front of the scenes at some point?
I know Natalie, like Natalie, like now, like gives me shit for it. Natalie will be like, not everyone working for you needs to be on camera. Even though like, that's like how Natalie like fucking is making $18 million a year or whatever she's doing. Natalie's like, nobody else gets to make this much money. It's just me.
Good luck.
I saw Brooke was on it too.
Yeah, Brooke was on it who we keep behind the scenes. Brooke is now a star. No. But Ferris is here. Ferris is our filmer. He's, um, so he filmed the Seven Wonders with us and originally did the video podcast. No.
Yeah, which we are— David, drum roll.
No, we're bringing it back.
We did the video podcast with Ferris. Um, you were there right when we started.
Right when we started.
I'm really weird about like hiring people, especially when they're in the room when we're like, we're being creative.
Yeah.
Like, I, I like, I hate it so much. And Natalie found Ferris and I was like, Fuck this guy. Like, no, no, no.
He's like, who's this weirdo?
I'm sure I said something like that.
Um, no, you're actually really nice from day one. Like, really, really welcoming.
It's part of the act. But when you would turn around, I'd be like, fuck him. Wait, wait, I was nice?
You were really nice.
Yeah, like too nice?
No, no, like actually, like, you're more welcoming than like Natalie.
Fucking bitch, I knew it. Wait, wait, how come? How come? Wait, what was our first day that we met? Where was it?
It was just shooting the podcast. Oh no, I came and you guys were, um, you guys were uploading the podcast. Oh, you know, you were uploading your video and you didn't know how to make a thumbnail because Ella used to make the thumbnail.
Okay.
And then you just like gave me your YouTube account, like, and you're just like, can you just do it? And I was like, holy shit.
Oh, is that what you mean by welcoming? Yeah, is that I just let you take control because I had no idea what I was doing?
Yeah, you should think about that.
Did you, did you watch the videos before? Or did you listen to the podcast?
No, I listened to every single podcast and I watched— I got— I started in like college, like listening, watching your videos.
Really? Yeah. I'm always worried when like a new person comes and like joins the workforce. Like, I'm like, I'm always like scared that like when they're hanging out with us, they're going to be like, oh, they're not as fun. Did you initially— did you initially get that? Because I feel like—
no, I used to like laugh so much. Do you remember that? When you used to record views?
You remember?
I used to laugh so much. This is so funny.
Oh, because you were there live.
Yeah, I was there. Like, I had that director's chair. Oh yeah.
Oh, that's so fun. I always, I always thought that like, like, like, like when we're not recording and stuff, I'm always like, damn, I hope they don't think we're like lame.
Do you feel pressure to like perform?
Like when like there's like a new person working?
Yeah.
Um, no, I have like, I have like when there's a new person working that I like, like I like want to like be funny around them for some reason. Like I have like more energy around them. I probably did that around you too. Um, but yeah, so then immediately from working, we asked him, we asked him to come do the Seven Wonders with us, which was like the craziest risk, like several years later.
But yeah, well, this has been here for like 3 and a half years.
Nah. Yeah.
But, but, but that was a weird ask. No, cuz we didn't know you like that yet.
No. So I, I worked on Views, then I worked with Jason.
Mm-hmm.
I did like his YouTube.
You did the, did you do the pilot? The new pilot that we all love.
I did not do that, no.
Why are you saying I did?
It's at 500,000 views now. So it's amazing. I heard you doubted that pilot.
No, no, no, no, no. I was in full support.
I think Netflix picked it up.
Netflix picked it up. Apparently he's selling it for $1 million an episode or whatever. Wait, was it $1 million an episode?
I don't think so.
$100,000 an episode. God, I'm so fucking— I have like the worst memory.
I don't think anything of what you're saying right now is correct.
Right, okay, sorry, continue. And then what did you do?
So I did— I worked with Jason for a year, uh, because we stopped Views.
Yeah.
And next—
were you sad when we stopped the video?
I was so sad because I moved from— I moved from Arizona, and then 3 months later— for Views— and 3 months later, um, David was like, you know, like, I don't want to do this.
This is like a recurring thing here. Like, Ilya also moved from Illinois to be my manager. Obviously that's not the case anymore. Yeah, I think I'll— I think I get like really gung— like I get like excited about things and I'm just like, I don't know. There's this character in Jimmy Neutron called Mr. Never Finish Anything, and that feels like me sometimes. What?
Huh?
Okay, whatever. Um, but yeah. Okay. And then what happened?
And then the same day Jason called me and he was like, hey, do you just want to come work with me?
And how did you feel about that?
Oh, I loved it. I love Jason. Yeah, he's great. And then we just started doing it for a year. And then right after that, I started working with Ilya. There was a point I was working with every single person, like Jonah, like everybody.
Oh, that's crazy.
Yeah.
And, uh, yeah, and then we started working with Ilya, did the docs, did the Zilla docs. Which ones did you do with him?
The worst ones. I didn't do Natalie's. Natalie's was really, really good.
Okay, so you didn't do— which ones did you do?
I did Zane's.
Zane's.
And then Yours? Yeah, I just— a little bit of Suzy.
Suzy.
Yeah.
Ferris. Like, so Ferris— it was me, Natalie, and Ilya on this trip, and Ferris was like the, the, the fourth person who's recording all the Seven Wonders stuff with us. And it was really funny because it would just be— I remember very— first of all, Ferris is, is Indian, but everywhere we'd go, people would think he's Black. It just— it got to the point where it wasn't even a joke anymore, where someone would be like, 'Where's your Black friend from?' What would they say?
They would just like, 'Oh, in China.' It was like, yeah, everywhere. It was like everybody thought it was like Black.
Yeah, we wouldn't even correct them anymore.
Yeah, I didn't even correct them anymore. I went to India and people— I was like, 'Oh, I'm Indian,' and they were like, 'What?' I started speaking Hindi and they were like, 'What?
This Black man speaks Hindi?' Um, yeah. Um, and I just— I remember like one big memory I had with these. I remember like sitting in the India, like in the pool at, in Agra, like right outside the Taj Mahal. And it was just me, you, and Ilia, and it was really late and we were just like, I mean, every place we would always, we'd just be like floating around either in pools or just like sitting on a bed somewhere and be like, you think this vlog's gonna do well?
Oh my gosh.
Yeah. We'd all write down guesses for how, how well it would think.
Yeah.
And we'd all be completely off.
We just worked in the silo for like a whole year. What? Like we just worked on this video for like a whole year.
Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah.
We worked and we just had like no, like, I don't know.
We didn't know how it was a good video or not.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah. And we like, we're looking at it so much, so much where it was just like driving us crazy.
But it was fun. It was really, really fun.
No, that was, that was like, that was, I mean, that was probably the best trip I'll take in my life. I don't know. I don't know if things are gonna like, I mean, for sure. Yeah. Like I don't think you'll, you never get to see the first wonder. You never get to see all the Seven Wonders again for the first time.
It's just the fact that you can say like you went on a trip to see the Seven Wonders, you know?
Yeah. And isn't that like the one big thing I thought to myself was I was like, I can't wait to be in a bar or somewhere where like a girl or somebody asked me. Where I can bring it up.
Yeah, deadass.
Zero times. Zero times I have brought this thing up because it's like weird.
How do you bring that up?
It's weird. It's weird because it's like, it's like the— it has to be so— someone literally has to be speaking about the Wonders directly for you to bring it up in like a casual way where you're not just flexing.
Yeah, I thought about like changing my like, like a, like one of the lines in my dating profile to like something about the Seven Wonders or something.
Like, oh no, that's so gross.
Yeah, it's so icky.
No, but I— the good part about it is, but it's cool, we do talk about on the pod a lot. So I guess we like, we can make up points there.
Fair enough.
But, uh, but yeah, no, it has not helped me with my dating life. I really genuinely thought that it was just gonna be a bunch. Agreed. Of, hey, what's up? Wait, okay. Ferris, one more. What's, what's Ferris, what's one of your earliest memories from, from working here?
Um, earliest memory.
What's like, what's like a thing when you first started working? I don't know. I, I'm, I'm so curious your perspective on things because like, because like if I was watching something like you— how often would you— you watch like over 100 vlogs before, would you say?
Yeah, I think so. I think so. Yeah, for sure.
Okay, 100. Yeah. Okay, so let's say you watch like over 100, like I just find that so curious to be like, I've seen this and now I'm working.
Like, oh, it was crazy.
What is that perspective? I'm always so— I always ask this question to everybody because I'm just like so curious about it.
That was really crazy. I remember the first week, um, You, you were editing a vlog. It was when you were doing like the voiceover vlogs.
Oh yeah. And then what you hate— I mean, you know, every time I'm like, this vlog needs voiceover, first goes, no, because I hate it. It's those, it's those vlogs where I go, first I woke up and I thought to myself, time to get some pizza. I just like doing those because it was so easy to connect things. But okay.
And then, um, and then you just brought me up to your room and you like how you edit and you were like, hey, just come on. Just like just watch me edit. And then you showed me the vlog. You were like, what do you think?
It's not like a little pervert. Take your clothes off.
You were like asking for my opinion. And I was like, this is the best vlog I've ever seen.
Oh, that's really—
this is crazy. Like I'm like seeing behind the scenes. It's pretty. And I didn't know you edited in like iMovie. Just crazy.
Oh, that's really funny.
You edit so fast. Like I don't think people realize like, like I'm an editor, but you edit so fast.
Well, I'm editing on iMovie. It's really easy to edit fast because I'm just like cutting one line of like Like, based on my dialog, like, if you— I wish people understood the difference between editing and iMovie. Like, how do you, how do you do that in, like, regular people terms that anybody can understand? It's like, it's like CapCut. It's— dude, it's even easier than CapCut.
That's true. Did you make movies in high school?
Movies?
Like, did you make, like, videos in high school? Like iMovie stuff?
The only— yeah, yeah. I wouldn't know. I never put things together, but like, I would always record on my iPod Touch. Like, once I got my iPod Touch, it was go time. I remember, like, that's when, that's when we were, like, recording stuff on the, on the bus and just like filming Natalie, my first sex tape, things like that. Somewhere out there we used to have the video of you asking me to, to the dance, which I feel like would be really cool. Oh my God, it's kind of crazy I've never used that. Yeah, but I guess it wouldn't really make sense anywhere.
Wait, did I show you a video or I just took a video?
You took a video like a little pervert from a tree, like you put the camera up far away.
Wait, really? Yeah, yeah, of what?
Like, I can't believe— huh?
Like a phone? I had a phone in a tree?
No, you had a camera at the time. I don't think like phones were doing that.
Oh damn.
Yeah, you know, like mom has it somewhere. I knew one day that she just like masturbates too.
That's weird.
I know she watches that video back, she's like, what could have been?
Wow, wait, I really want to find that.
Our lineage could have been so powerful.
Our lineage.
That's what your mom thinks. Your mom's dream has always been to combine with the Dobricks.
Oh, for sure.
Steal all the money.
Steal all the money.
Now you need to marry him. I can The second you're married, I can flush his accounts in seconds.
What would your mom do if like you and David actually got married?
We were in Chicago and I was— and I— what did I say? I said to her, I was like, Nelly and I had sex yesterday for the first time.
Oh my God. Yeah, my— we were like being weird intentionally and we like told my mom. She's like, why are you guys being so weird? Or whatever. And then David was like— I was like, well, we have to like tell you something, whatever. And David's like, you tell her, I'm not gonna tell her. And I was like, no, I'm not gonna say that. And then David was like, Natalie and I had sex last night. And my mom was like, well, initially she thought we were kidding.
And then we just dropped it. We just kept walking and then it kind of marinated with her.
And then she was just like, then we were in the back of the pack walking around the streets of Chicago. And she was like, did you actually, Natalie, did you actually have sex with him?
Yeah, no, I don't think she'd be stoked.
No, no, for sure not.
But I don't know. I also don't think she'd be like disappointed.
I don't know.
Really?
She'd probably be pretty like grossed out.
Would she be jealous?
Absolutely not. She'd be pissed.
You don't think she'd be jealous that it wasn't her?
Fuck no, dude.
Are you sure?
You annoy her to no fucking end.
Really? Because I feel like it's like vice versa. She doesn't listen to these pods, right? We have like free rein here.
For sure.
Okay. There was this— we just did the sled hill at my house. And, and she like wiped out on the sled hills. She went like balls to the wall on the sled hill.
I know, it was like she was like— she like morphed into like a 12-year-old kid.
It was really weird.
So weird.
Like, Jen, you gotta take it easy. And she like pulled her back or something. I remember the next day I was like— I was sitting upstairs in the upstairs living room because I heard Jen downstairs. So I was just like, okay, I'm going to wait till she leaves because like once, once you run into Natalie's mom, it's like I always say, it's like a vortex. It's like a suction cup of voices and spirits, and it's just like you can't avoid it. She has her own gravitational pull. And I'm sitting in the upstairs living room and I'm just listening. I'm like, okay, I think she's making her way to the car, to the car. She's about to go. And then she pivots upstairs to come to the printer, and I'm like, I'm fucked. And I'm sitting by the stairs. I don't have enough time to move.
Yeah.
And then lo and behold, she locks in with me. And I'm not kidding you, for 20 minutes she talks to me about her back. It's fucking crazy.
Well, we also do such fun things. Like, she comes from, like, she has a pretty, like, you know, no, not dissing her or anything, but she has a very, like, mundane life, you know? Like, she's just like, no, I get it, at home she tends to her garden.
I also feel like if you're listening, you're like, well, why did you sit there for 20 minutes and listen? Because like I do talk about her, like I would, like I would just like turn the other cheek. But like, I'm like, I'm never like— the only thing I'm rude to her about is like when we like make jokes. Yeah, but like I would never like actively be like, Jen, fuck off. Even though in my head, in my head I'm just like, I'm going to fucking kill Natalie. I'm going to kill Natalie. Why don't you lock the door? So I'm just like—
and he came downstairs. He's like, why is your mother here?
Anyway.
But yeah, good old Jen. Anything else, Ferris?
Um, so how's it been back on YouTube?
Oh dude, thanks for interviewing me. Ferris has all these— so Ferris is like— oh, Ferris is also the guy that changes the thumbnails.
Hey, hey, hey, I'm like, I don't think you need— people are gonna be like, okay, thumbnails. Oh, and this audience knows, this audience definitely knows.
Okay, okay. Ferris is also— so Ferris is also the guy that Like I don't really upload the videos anymore. I just edit them.
Yeah.
And then Ferris, he's managing the, like the, the channel. I'll give Ferris like 3 thumbnail ideas and then he'll make 'em and then YouTube will cycle through 3 of 'em and he'll, he'll upload, he'll change the title and he'll monitor the analytics. Yeah. Like all that. So like, like I don't have my YouTube login anymore. All I have to do is like deliver him the video, which is amazing. Takes the load off. And then at the same time, Ferris also has all these dreams and high hopes for the channel. He always has, like, he always— he's always pitching something new.
He's very ambitious.
He's very ambitious. And I really like that. And like, sometimes I'll like, won't want to make a vlog that week and I'll literally think to myself, like, I'm just doing this one for Ferris. So, so it's very important to keep him around. Like, he— what was his last ambitious idea? About a week and a half ago, I think he watched a movie that he thought was shit and he was like, we should make a movie.
Right. Oh yeah, yeah, we watched a movie and, um, I was just like, like, we make these vlogs but they're like pretty good. Like they're beginning and beginning, middle, and then I know you tried to, you know, you think they're like not the best thing ever, but they're really good. They have like a story, I feel like.
And sometimes, sometimes they have a story. Yeah.
And I feel like a lot of what's out there right now, you know, you could do that with the people that you have around you and create like a pretty entertaining thing.
Like a movie? Yeah, like, like, I don't know what that means because we obviously can't do like a scripted thing.
But no, not— I mean, you can.
Oh, are you talking like, um, okay, okay, sorry, there's two different ideas here. Are you talking about making your— what's your film idea? And then you're also talking about making like an hour-long, like a YouTube video? Like an hour? Yeah, I just like don't know if like it's worth the squeeze there because it's like making a YouTube video, like, okay, so like So like, let's take Sweden for example. We did— we attached a brand deal to it, right? I mean, obviously. And like, if you don't have a brand attached to a video, like, all that money from that brand deal is going towards that video, like, for flights, for hotels, for transportation, for all our friends. Like, it's a lot of fucking money to get everyone places and to like to make sure everyone's happy. It's a lot. It eats the entire budget of the video. Therefore, like, Ferris wants to do an idea where like It's like an hour-long video and we visit X amount of places, but then we can only put one brand attached to it, and then we're like negative hundreds of thousands of dollars on a video, which is kind of scary.
Yeah, it's not— that's why it's hard to make money. That's what Natalie's for, you know. But that's my idea, just like an idea.
Well, I would— I just like to break even on YouTube videos. Like, I like the YouTube videos to cost what the YouTube videos cost.
You also don't monetize them, which is crazy. I think you're probably the biggest YouTuber who doesn't monetize their videos.
But like, I don't, I don't know how that would work, like, with like, with like the songs we use and things like that.
Yeah.
And it's just like, I'm just like too lazy to like flip that fucking switch and be like, here's 20% to the— I don't know, I just think it's like really—
Would you ever make a movie?
Um, yeah, but I just like don't know how. I don't know how. Like, that's my problem is like everything that we shoot, I have like such a vision for And then when we get to the edit, it's like completely the opposite of what I envisioned. I'm like, oh, this isn't what I wanted at all, but I still like this. So like, and I don't think you can do that with a movie. And like, I can't— like, if I sat next to— if I storyboarded with someone and I saw some things, I know day— like, let's say we storyboarded a scene in the hotel, right? There's like Natalie's— Natalie, a character's having a fight with someone else in a hotel room. We'd get to the hotel and then I'd see the room right next door and I'd be like, wait, this room's better. Do you know what I mean? Like those little pivots you can't do when you're shooting a film and you have like 40 people setting up. Like when you, when you're doing a vlog, it's like, it's obviously it's nothing like that. You're just like, what corner has the best lighting?
Like, I know, but I feel like the more you make, like maybe the first movie will be like that, but the second one—
No, I know. I think that's what I'm scared of. I'm just so scared of making like a really, really shitty movie. Um, but we did have this idea with Ferris that I really like. That's like a recurring, like, I wish we had like a series on, we've talked about this on the, I think we've, have I talked about this on the pod about, no, we were okay. We were, we were on the boat. We're in, we're still in Cebu, by the way. We're in the Philippines. We were on the boat. We were talking about like what we can do on this cha— on the channel. And I think a really good idea would be to continue the Dart series. Like I really like every vlog or every other vlog or once a vlog or once a month, whatever. I don't know what it is, starting with us throwing a dart and then having to go to that location. Um, I think it's just so fun. I think that's like such an easy plugin for like anything. I think it gives you like a purpose to, to be at a place. I think like you can have celebrities join on dart trips. I think there's like a lot, I don't know. And I also think like explaining it to brands could be very simple so people would be on board. And that's very important to make the videos better cuz more money from brands, like the more things we can do in a video. Um, someone, someone messaged me the other day, they're like, because that— because I was talking about connecting videos to brands and they're like, why just not do a video with a brand? I'm like, well, because it costs like $100,000, which is like a lot of money. Yeah, it's a lot. And it's like, why, why is it a lot of money? Because like you watch the video and I don't think you see that. Do you see that?
You definitely see that.
Really?
I don't think you see like how, because you don't get the little like details of like flights, hotels, meals, things like that, that tables, bottle service, like all the little things that we're doing that you don't realize in the background is like adding up to be a lot of money.
Yeah. Okay. I guess that, I guess that's, I guess that's true.
But in travel, but like at home, like, you know, like the snow hill.
Oh yeah. That for sure. People realize.
Yeah.
Like the things like this. Oh, you think people realize that that costs money?
I don't think people understand how much money that costs, but it's obviously—
it's also because we live in LA. Like, can we talk about how much the snow hill was, or is that just like outrageous? Like, we shouldn't even say that number. I don't even think we should say that number. No.
Yeah, I don't think it's necessary.
There's a lot.
Yeah.
Yeah, I think there's like way more than you should be paying for a snow hill.
Oh, we also— David had the idea for the snow hill 24 hours before we made the snow hill.
Correct.
Which means the price tripled.
Um, the price is a lot. Yeah, but— and we live in LA. So like, it's not like getting someone in— I don't even know where that— like, I assume like in Texas for them to build you like a Snow Hill, like a bunch of—
probably half the price. Labor is like—
yeah, labor in LA is crazy. And everybody like— and people charge for a production project like just out the ass more. You need a whole production team to be doing something like that. So yeah, so it all costs a lot. So that's why everything needs to be paired with a brand.
Is there an idea that you have that you haven't done because it costs like a lot, a lot of money that you're just like waiting for, you know, an opportunity like that. You're like, oh, if I don't know, I've always $10 million, I would do this.
No, I don't think so. I don't think like, like, like obviously going to space is like for some reason feels like a YouTuber's like dream. I just think like, that's like so funny. Like stepping on like a different planet would be really cool.
So funny.
But why, why is that funny?
I mean, just like Ilya and you. Oh, the concept of it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, it'd be amazing. Um, but I don't know. No, I don't know, like, what— like, have we had an idea that's been, like, kind of, like, halted by money? It's not like that. It's not like we need— it's like, it's, it's, it's ideas like going to a bunch of countries at once. Like, I love the idea of, like, I like the idea of, like, for my 30th— for my 30th year on this planet, I wanted to live in a different city for a full month. So like Philippines, I lived there for a month. Dubai, lived there for a month. South Korea, lived there for a month and make one video per month. And that would be like, to do really, really, really, really nicely would be really expensive. It's like, that's something that would be like really cool to do. Also to do, I would love if I had unlimited money, I'd love to do a video a week. Like I'd love to be able to travel with like a big group of people and go and go somewhere every week. I think that would be the coolest. Guys, Ilya's here. What happened?
Nothing happened. I've just been thinking about your idea.
For which one?
About your throw the dart at the globe.
We were just talking about that. That's like literally the perfect transition.
Really?
Yeah.
You just walked in.
Yeah. So I think that it sucks. I think that it's a $100 million, if not billion dollar idea. And I think that—
Wait, what's going on?
Why is that funny?
Well, I thought you're gonna shit on it. I don't think you're still gonna shit on it. I don't know.
Absolutely not. I think it's one of the best ideas that you've ever had. And I think that, and I think that if you do this, it will change the course of your life along with all the other people's lives. I'm dead serious. And I think that you need to take every actionable fucking step possible when you get home. No more kindergarten shit. I'm dead serious. You need to fucking— you need to go out, you need to hire a cast, you need to pay that cast, you need to like take the show seriously.
You don't want to do this?
I don't want to do it. Well, regardless of whether I do it or not, right, right, I'm saying that you 1,000% need to do it. You need to fucking get off your ass, stop being a bitch, seriously, both of you, honestly, and figure it out.
Hey, that's sick.
All right, what just happened at the gym?
Where you go—
I mean, I'm just always pumped up after the gym. I'm always on a high.
Wait, but okay, explain.
I was just— I don't know, I just have these thoughts while I'm on the treadmill and I'm like, I'm thinking to myself like, this is— no one's doing this. You, you have the perfect personality for— you have the perfect platform for it. Like, you just need to put a few puzzle pieces in place and then you'll fucking— you'll fire off, dude. You'll fire off.
And how often would a series like this happen?
Uh, the thing is, I want to say once a week, but like, I want to say that too, you know what I mean?
That's a lot.
For once a week. And I feel like— maybe this is too early to say this, but I feel like it almost doesn't belong on YouTube.
Uh, no, I think it does. YouTube's so nice because like you— because it's a free platform, so people are just like— people don't expect much. Yeah, that's why I was so successful on YouTube, because no one's expecting anything. So it's like you just do the bare minimum and people are like, right, okay, this is better than—
I get that. Let's say— let's just play it out. Let's say it's once a week. The logistics of that would be crazy, and you'd have to probably shoot a ton beforehand, right? You wouldn't be able to do it live.
I think you'd maybe have to be like a week in advance just to be safe.
Probably like a few in advance.
I think, and you need like 3 editors, and you need like—
yeah, the only thing about in advance which sucks is that you can't really— like, there's no energy about like doing it live. What I'm trying to say is like, it's, it's not as fun doing it like recording and then posting. It's more fun like kind of like posting as you go.
Yeah, I agree.
Um, but my only concern with it being on YouTube is just like budget.
Yeah, yeah, that's, that's what we kind of just ran into is like, who pays for—
well, I think you, I think you like put a proper pitch together, you go out to like investors and you're like, this is what we want to do, you should take a chunk of it and fucking run with it. Francisco is one of them.
Francisco, Francisco, UN.
He's like, you've pitched me 14 ideas since I've been here.
Uh, okay. All right, okay, I understand.
Yeah, I love this, Ilya. This is great.
Yeah, but you understand you have to be part of it.
Yeah, I, I don't see— I don't see for yet how, because like it really jeopardizes the thing that I'm trying to do, which is build my own platform, you know, and my own—
yeah, but like how can my own brand— how can those not be built simultaneously?
Because it, it takes so much energy. Like even though you don't think it does, it takes so much energy and effort to do the things that you want to be doing, which is fucking awesome.
But like, but like, your brand could— your brand could be like working. Like, you can have a person that's doing like the back end.
We should talk about this off the podcast. This is a very long conversation. Really long story short, regardless of whether I do it or not— I'm not saying I'm not doing it, I'm just saying regardless of whether I do or not do, you should 1000% pursue this thing that you have. It's— I feel like the first time in a very long time we've had an idea that actually like— that's actually good. That's actually good and can like spark something new and have energy and like have new people around and like just reignite your whole fucking— your— the people that you would hire would eventually become your friends. Taylor being an example, Ferris being an example. Like, you know, you pay these people and they're your friends around you. And I think the same thing would go for Cash.
Okay, I, I'll agree with you up until the hiring thing. I think that completely ruins the whole thing.
I think that's where you lose it. I think that's exactly where you lose it, where you start— you start it will never work if you're always like, can Zane come? Can this person come?
Oh, I think you could like figure out a way to pay Zane. I just— I don't—
okay, sure.
I'm just saying, I don't think you're gonna hold an audition and you're gonna be like, who can join us on these trips?
Sure. I think what I'm saying is it has to be more solidified and like no more guessing, you know?
We just need one person.
I don't think you need one. I think you need like—
we just need Ilya.
We just see it. We literally need Ilya.
Yeah.
Yeah, I don't know about that, but I'm just saying you need—
I mean, we truly just only need you.
You know how much we would get done if you were here more?
And it's like, you weren't like a bitch about it.
Okay, and he's leaving.
That's enough. Oh, I have heartburn. The meat's still coming back up. What else did you think about on the treadmill?
Well, I'm just curious, wait, why do you think that this is such like a— just because this is like a unique— the first unique idea that he's had in like quite some time that could be like easily replicated? Is that why you're like so gun— like, you're—
I think you're already halfway there, right? Like, we're kind of already doing it, and it's just—
we only did one. We did Sweden.
No, but I'm saying like, you've ignited your engine to post YouTube videos. Like, that was a good first step. And then we did this throw. That was a good second step. And then you had the idea. That was good. Like, I feel like things are a little bit in motion. You just have to tweak a few things here and there, and then like really build a machine, systemize, and fucking do it. Like, that's what I'm saying.
Okay.
But listen, if, you know, if you're not gung-ho about it, obviously—
No, I'm gung-ho. I just like the op— like, the—
just like, it's a lot of fucking work. Like, that's the thing. It's like, you really have to—
It also— it also probably needs to be once a week, and it needs to be in seasons.
I agree. I think that's good.
I can't possibly be all year round, 24/7 in the kitchen. That sounds illegal. It needs to be like 3 months on, 3 months off.
And have like— I feel like guests, like guest people guesting and like coming on trips.
Yeah, you package it like really, really nicely.
Yeah, I think that'd be cool. Would you leave your girlfriend for me? Be honest with me.
Like if you turn gay? No, sorry, if I turn gay, because I'm already gay.
Yeah, no, I don't know, like let's say, let's say I gave you an ultimatum and I was like, listen dude, it's her or me. What would you do? That's It'd be 50/50, right?
If it's her or me?
Yeah, like, and I'd be like, don't worry, like, you can have sex with me. So like, you're not missing out on—
um, I mean, like, if you're putting it that way, probably her.
Okay, it's interesting. Yeah, so you'd have me executed?
Well, if you're asking about execution Her.
No, I'm kidding. That's a question that doesn't really have—
I don't know. That's like hard.
When do you want to get married?
I don't know. She's going to business school for 2 years. She's about to go to business school. So I think I have at least, at least 2 years.
So it's an interesting way to look at it.
Yeah.
I don't know. Once she's done with that, you're gonna be like, you should get your PhD. You should really go all the way and just figure this thing out. Take 6 more years.
Um, I don't know, it's, you know, obviously kind of scares me.
I get really confused why people get scared about marriage. Am I like missing something completely?
Like, it's the last thing you like, you know, that's your, that's your final, that's your ultimatum. Yeah, that's like your—
but like, if, but like, like if you're with somebody, like take our friend John and Julia, right? They, they, I could talk about this, I feel like, because they, they both don't want to do it, so it's not like leaning towards anything, but neither of them want to get engaged because they both think it's like they're both in the wrong spot right now for different reasons in their heads. But they've been together for like, what, 5 years now?
Yeah.
So in my head I'm just like, guys, it's just going to be you two, it feels like, right? And like, I, I don't know, obviously I don't know the ins and outs of a relationship, but like, is that— how do you take that?
Um, no, I feel the same way.
It's like you're already there.
Yeah, but maybe our perspective is just like really skewed. I also just feel like, like, to me, I don't feel— I don't feel like when you get married that your relationship should change significantly, you know? Like, I don't think that— maybe you move in together if you haven't already, and like, that's a big change. But otherwise, like, I feel like you should still have like that— like, whatever you guys were doing when you were 20, you should still be doing when you're 40, you know?
No, 100%. But I wonder if it's like— do you think it's because people want to save marriage for like when they're both like— because like, okay, so the only thing I compare marriage to is like Like, let's say you're like really like hooking up with— like, let's say you're hooking up with a girl and you want to take it slow rather than like just the first night like have sex or whatever. Like, is that what marriage is? It's like the last step of this like emotional bond that people want to save it for like the apex moment, like years, years, years down the line? Like, is that what it is? Um, maybe, because that's how I could justify it in my head. Obviously a lot of people are not ready for marriage for a really long time. I'm just like always so curious.
I also think like I think, like, for myself, I'm pretty secure in a lot of the other aspects of my life other than, like, my romantic relationship. Like, that's the only other thing. So I'm just like, yeah, fuck it. Like, let's just, you know.
Yeah, you said, like, the next person you're gonna date, you're gonna marry.
Yeah, I would think so.
That's, like, crazy. How long do you think you'll date them for before—
I don't know. I don't care.
Just do it.
I mean, I'm not gonna be like, oh, one month, I love you so much, let's get married. Like, I'm still a realist, but Damn. I don't— like, I'm at a point now, and I've had so many relationships, and I've met so many people in my life that I feel like I know. I know my red flags, I know my green flags. So I'm like— and I know, like, what I want, and I know what I definitely do not want.
First, how long have you been married or engaged or fucking in a relationship? What are you? Who are you? What's your name?
Yeah, I've been in a relationship for 7 years.
That's crazy. You've been in a relationship 7 years.
Um, well, 2019 and, uh, yeah, 2026. Yeah, 7 years.
Wow.
Wow. Okay, so what's going on, dude? The fuck is up?
No, I know what you mean. I feel like it's— I feel like it's a lot of different factors. Like, I think each person has— like, I think Ilya's is— I— what I think is like, you want to like, you know, establish everything and then move on to the next chapter, because pretty much like a chapter thing. You're done with business and everything, you figured out the finances, what you want to do. And then you just want to focus on relationship.
Yeah, I did like how Natalie put it, like, now she's secure in XYZ things, so like, so she has the energy and time to focus on like, on just the, the relationship part of her life. So that kind of makes sense. So then what's your excuse?
Exactly same.
Same?
Yeah, yeah.
Like you're growing your business and you want to lock that in?
We have this dart idea for the next year.
You blame not proposing to her for the dart idea? Uh, baby, it's gonna be another 2 years. Ilya just came in super passionate about it after the gym, so it's gonna be longer than we expected.
See, for me, like, when I like have friends that have been in relationships for so long and like— I'm sorry, nobody— like, the person doesn't want to like pull the trigger on an engagement or whatever, I'm like, oh, there's probably— like, if that were me and I Ferris just mouthed, what the fuck?
Sorry, Ferris, but I'm gonna come at you and your whole relationship right now.
Okay, sorry, let me describe. For me, if I'm in a relationship— okay, for me, if I'm in a relationship with somebody, I think—
I hope not.
Um, okay, so for me, if I'm in a relationship with somebody—
how are you guys? How are you guys? You guys see the new Avengers trailer?
It's so good.
So good. This is the one I think that's gonna like really bring us back.
Oh my God, we should have gone to those whales today.
Yeah, I'm on to something. Let me enlighten the people.
Go, go.
For you, it's if you're like with somebody for 2 to 3 years and you're still having this hunch, whether it's the guy or the girl or whatever, like if you're not like, oh, I'm gonna fucking marry the shit out of this person, like there's, there's like an inkling of something that's happening that's like holding you back. And I So that's like—
I do agree with that. That, that, that's why I get confused, because I'm like, well, how are you 3 years in?
And yeah, and but I think that there's like some sort of like weighing of pros and cons. It's like, okay, well, I don't really know if I'm like 100% in on this person. There's like 10% of me, but like, can I deal with that 10% and just fucking—
I don't think that's the argument that like Ferris is giving, right?
I think mine is like, I don't have like a really good wedding. I want to have like a good ring.
Yeah, okay, that I think— I think that's where Ferris—
she's also a wedding planner. So I want, you know, she's gonna have a good wedding.
Oh wow. Is she gonna plan her own wedding?
Yeah, she's gonna do the whole wedding. So, oh, that's good.
So how often do you guys talk about marriage?
She talks a lot.
I'm sure it's every day.
Oh brother, the start idea can't hold you over that long.
Yeah.
Um, okay.
But, but yours, you're a little different too. You need to be in the relationship.
I understand, dude.
You have to be in the relationship. I feel like it'd be a great boyfriend and then husband and then father and stuff. But I feel like, um, it's very different when you're in a relationship versus when you're not, right, Ilya?
Like, it's like, it's easier to just like say a bunch of things.
Yeah, it's not— yeah, it's not a difference.
Okay, okay. Yeah, I understand. Well, I guess one day maybe I'll have the perspective of being in a relationship and I'll tell you guys all about it.
It's so crazy you've gone this long without being in a relationship because I live in fucking LA, dude. That's bullshit, bro.
It's not bullshit, Natalie. I'm like, I am. I have been. I'm telling you.
Yeah, but like, don't you just like seek companionship and like in any capacity?
I love companionship, dude.
I guess your friends, your friends really like, yeah, they've kind of fucked you in that regard because— not fucked you, but like, no, they have 100% fucked me.
Yeah, they've—
that's—
I'm telling you, I was— did I— I said this on the pod, right? I was hanging out with the girl and she— that's nice to talk about this, Ferris. Have you listened to the recent pods? Just hanging out with this girl and she's like— I think I have talked about this.
What's the story?
Yeah, she was just saying like, sorry, you don't know what you're talking about. No, but she was just saying Like, it's like there's almost no place for like a woman to fill your role because like, you know, everything's taken care of. Yeah. Like everything's taken care of and fulfilled.
Yeah.
Wow. Yeah. She's like, you have your friends, you live with your friends, you have like, you have an assistant who like takes care of things around the house. You have like a manager who's your best friend who's also a girl. And it's like you also have sex with your manager. So it's like there's that.
What did you say?
I have an assistant.
Well, after that.
Oh, okay. Yeah. Um, so yeah. So Um, no, but yeah, you know everybody thinks you and Natalie sleep together.
Of course, of course, of course.
I would think that too.
People that are like close to me are like, and I'm like, even I thought about it sometimes.
Really?
Like, no, like, not anymore, obviously. I thought Ilya and Natalie would be a thing.
I don't know what you guys are talking about. David and Natalie definitely fuck.
Ilya's still convinced. You've heard it.
I've definitely heard going on.
What does it sound like?
I mean, you don't want to hear fucking gorilla noises, bro, up in your room. I don't know if it's her or you.
Natalie, shut up. He's gonna hear you. I love this. Natalie, shut up.
Can you imagine?
All right, guys, well, that's all the time we have for this podcast. This has been a thrill. We have to go and enjoy the rest of Cebu. It's our last day here, then we go to Manila. And then we go to Dubai. So thank you for listening to the podcast, and we'll see you guys for the next one. Bye! Dubai.
